Ellen-Mattison-Picture

Ellen Mattison – Camp Director

This is Ellen Mattison's fifth year with Camp Northwoods.  Ellen received her Bachelor's Degree from State University of New York Geneseo with a major in Childhood Education and Special Education.  She is currently pursuing her Master of Science in Literacy at SUNY Albany, and teaches in the Saratoga Springs City Schools.  In her free time, Ellen loves spending time with her family and friends, being outdoors, playing guitar, and making jewelry.
Jake-Zanetti-Picture

Jake Zanetti– Assistant Director

Education: Third-year Physical Education Teacher in Saratoga Springs City School District. Graduated form Saratoga Springs High School 2005, SUNY Cortland 2009, and Canisius College 20122 with a Master's in Differentiated Instruction in P.E.
Experience: Aside from teaching, I coach wrestling, track and field (pole vault), and cross country.  My camp experience is eight years at Greenfield Summer Recreation, as a counselor and a director.  Also, I've worked as a counselor for Genesee Valley Rotary Camp (camp for kids with mental and physical disabilities) for 5 years.  I run my own instructional pole vault camp (Catch the Ride!) each summer as well.
Interests: In my free time, I play in a recreational kickball league, enjoy lots of physical activity and play soccer, ping pong, and pickleball.  I enjoy spending time with friends and family, going out to Saratoga Lake boating, as well as reading.

Molly-Donovan-Picture

Molly Donovon - Counselor

Education: Senior at Western New England University majoring in Elementary Education and Psychology
Experience: Years of babysitting, Teacher's Aide in Kindergarten, First and Fifth grade classrooms, Queensbury Elementary Spanish club helper, Homework Club helper, and a Peer Leader for Fifth Graders.
Interests: Spending time with my family and friends, playing soccer and softball, dancing, skiing, and going to Cape Cod during the summer

Courtney Martindale - Counselor

Education: Hartwick College, Class of 2013; is pursuing a B.S. in Psychology with a minor in Business Administration.
Experience: Worked 5+ years as a Kids Klub member at the Great Escape Lodge and Indoor Water Park.  Also, has several years of babysitting and working as a Sunday school teacher, in addition has been a volunteer at the Otsego County Head Start.
Interests: I have been dancing since I was 3 years old.  I also enjoy meditation, rugby and all sports, traveling, nature and the environment, arts and crafts, game nights with family and friends.

Education: Skidmore College Class of 2014, Pursuing a BA degree in Psychology
Experience: Returning Camp Northwoods Counselor (3rd year), student learning at the Greenberg Child Care Center, years of babysitting
Interests: Spending time with family and friends, vacationing, going to the beach, doing arts & crafts, being outdoors, playing sports, & exercising.
Matt McGarry

Matt McGarry – Counselor

Education: Senior at SUNY Potsdam, pursuing a BA Degree in Childhood/Childhood Education
Certificates: CPR/First Aid Certified
Experience: Returning Camp Northwoods Counselor, Schuylerville Central Schools After-School Counselor and Summer Camp Counselor, SUNY Potsdam Sheard Literacy Center Mentor and Tutor.
Interests: Being outdoors playing baseball, football, basketball and golf.  Spending time with family and friends, traveling, attending sporting events, snowboarding.

Chelsea-Ranack-Picture

Chelsea Ranck – Counselor

Education: SUNY Potsdam, class of 2012; BA degree in Early/Childhood (Birth-6) with English Specialization
Certifications: New York State Teaching Certification Early Childhood Education (Birth-2); New York State Teaching Certification Childhood Education (Grades 1-6); Standard First Aid and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer.
Experience: Years of babysitting, camp counselor for 3rd-5th graders at Gaving Park in Wilton for three summers, volunteer as a BIG sister in the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program, Returning Camp Northwoods Counselor, America Reads tutor, volunteer mentor for The -Adopt-A-Bear Program at SUNY Potsdam.
Interests: Loves spending time with family and friends, enjoys traveling, arts and crafts, working out and playing sports for fun.  Loves to do any outdoor activity such as skiing during the winter and being outside during the summertime.
Lindsey Ranck

Lindsey K. Ranck – Counselor

Education: Junior at The College of St. Rose, studying Social Work with a minor in Family Studies.
Experience: 4th summer working at Skidmore, Volunteer at Friday Knights Child program with autistic children at the College of St. Rose, and I also volunteer in the pediatrics building at Albany Medical Center.
Interests: I love to spend time outdoors, with friends and family.  I love to hike, ski, and lay on the beach!  Love to play sports of any kind, and love playing and spending time with my two dogs!

Education: Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts and Suny Adirondack majoring in Elementary Education 1-6 concentration in History
Certifications: CPR/First Aid; Peer Leader
Experience: Substitute teacher, Teacher's Aide, Tutor, Schuylerville Summer Camp Counselor, Schuylerville Elementary School's Before and After School Program for 4 years and Camp Northwoods Counselor for 4 years
Interests: Swimming, hiking, acting, singing, astronomy, drawing, ultimate frisbee, soccer, lacrosse, arts and crafts and spending time with family and friends.

Ben Rybaltowski– Counselor

Education: Sophomore at Lehigh University, pursuing a BS Degree in Civil Engineering
Experience: Years of teaching swim lessons at Charvale Pool Association, Lakeridge Recreation Center, and Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Community Swim Program
Interests: Swimming, camping, hiking, playing music, kayaking and traveling.

Education: Sophomore at The College of Saint Rose, Childhood/Special Education major, Schuylerville High School
Certifications: CPR/First Aid
Experience: Internship at the Unity Sunshine Pre-School in albany, asisted children with learning Institute for Women, three internships at Schuylerville Elementary School, Camp Northwoods Counselor 2010 and 2011
Interests: Spending time with family and friends, sports, canoeing, hiking, arts and crafts, coaching softball and reading.

 

Evy-Yergan

Evy Yergan – Substitute Counselor

Evangeline Yergan grew up in Saratoga Springs, NY and attended Camp Northwoods as a child.  She just finished her freshman year at Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts studying theatre education, and hopes to open a small theatre company one day.  She's extremely happy to be home in Saratoga this summer working at the camp where she grew up.
