Peter Carner – Director
Peter lives, with his wife Nicole and 3-½ year old son Madigan, in Greenwich, New York. Peter has spent his whole life working to make sure that children have every experience possible - from granting wishes at the Make-A-Wish Foundation to creating camping experiences for children who were told that they could not attend camp because of their medical needs. Peter has been in the camping world since 1990 as a Counselor, Program Director, Camp Director, and most recently as a consultant to camps and recreational programs trying to improve their programs. With an undergraduate degree in Medical Anthropology and a Masters Degree in Education, Peter spends his non-camp seasons as a 5th Grade teacher at Schuylerville Elementary School. Peter also holds accreditations in First Aid/CPR, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Team Building, Ropes Course Management, and is a NYS Licensed Guide. Peter enjoys spending time with his family and being on the water.
Kara Koenig – Assistant Director

Experience: Camp Wilton Summer Camp for Disabled Adults; Albany Jewish Community Center Summer Teen Camp: Lifeguard, Waterskiing Instructor, Canoe, Kayak and Swimming Instructor; Albany Jewish Community Center After School Counselor/Camp and Lifeguard; Bethlehem Town Park: Lifeguard/Swim Instructor
Interests: skiing, swimming, hiking, bike riding, snow shoeing, camping...anything outdoors
Chris Brown - Counselor
Education: Graduated from St. Lawrence University as Global Studies major and Education minor; studied a semester in Denmark
Certifications: RTE, CPR/PR
Experience: SLU Buddies, Student Teaching, Tutoring, Camp Northwoods counselor for 4 summers
Interests: enjoys kayaking, hiking, soccer, biking, playing bass guitar, traveling, etc.
DaeShawn Hall - Counselor
Education: Skidmore College class of 2011 majoring in Sociolgy-Anthropology and Studio Art
Certifications: CPR/PR
Experience: Parent-Teen Mediator, Restorative Justice Mediator, Peer-Mentor for 2012 freshman class, Saratoga Mentoring mentor, Reading Excellence & Discovery Foundation: junior supervisor, Resident Assistant of Jonsson Tower, Vice President of Ujima, 3 younger sisters, 8-year-old mentee

Tara Kelley - Counselor
Education: Skidmore College class of 2010, double major in Sociology and Women's Studies

Interests: Social Science, Gender Studies, Family Sociology, global political issues and action, outdoor activities (hiking, canoeing, etc.), creative activities (knitting, weaving, crafts, etc.), sports and athletics (softball, basketball, etc.)
Ellen Mattison - Counselor
Education: Sophomore at SUNY Geneseo majoring in Childhood Education with Special Education (Grades 1-6) with a concentration in the Natural Sciences

Experience: years of babysitting, internship in a first grade classroom
Interests: loves spending time with family and friends, enjoys running and playing sports for fun, loves being busy and active, loves being outside in the summertime and enjoys reading a good book
Erin McAvoy - Counselor
Education: Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education, Skidmore College

Experience: student teacher, intern, tutor, volunteer, tour guide, relief work in New Orleans, English teacher/researcher in China
Interests: loves Chinese Language, traveling, and reading
Erin Newell - Counselor
Education: Skidmore College Graduate May 2008 with an Education Studies major and Psychology concentration
Certifications: RTE, CPR/PR, Initial NYS certification in childhood education (grades 1-6)
Experience: Camp Counselor at YMCA Camp Jericho, community mentoring programs and Skidmore teaching placements
Interests: loves being outside and being active camping, rowing or going for a walk, loves traveling, photography and live music
Ryan Saxton - Counselor
