Girls' Basketball Elite Guard Camp

Staff

Darren Bennett has been the Head Women's Basketball Coach at Skidmore College for six seasons. Prior to Skidmore, Coach Bennett was the recruiting coordinator and assistant women's basketball coach at Michigan State, Syracuse, and Temple universities. As a Division I assistant he worked with guards and forwards in individual and team settings and coordinated the team's recruiting efforts.

Program

This four-day instructional and skill camp is designed for the serious minded high school player who wants to advance to the next level. It is a very intense camp designed to help prepare the player who is motivated and committed and shapes her by giving her specialized instruction in developing the individual guard skills necessary for the college level game. Players will be divided based on grade and skill.

Elite Guard Campers will learn and experience

  • Fundamental and advanced guard skill circuits of full court moves
  • One-on-one moves
  • Two-ball drills
  • Point guard and wing moves
  • Shooting of the pass
  • Shooting off the dribble
  • Passing entries into offenses
  • Short lectures from our college coaching staff
  • Short lectures from current and former college basketball players
Players will participate in college style individual skill work sessions. These will be the same skill work sessions that you would work on at college practices. Campers will be divided into groups of nine players for specialized instruction in guard play and for competitive games and competitions. All instruction will take place on indoor college sized wood courts.

Experience as a high school player or AAU level player is strongly recommended.
