Field Hockey

![]() August 3-7, 2009 Monday-Thurday Girls entering grades 6-12 Program Players will be placed in age- and skill-level-appropriate groups to ensure a fun, yet challenging experience. A strong emphasis will be placed on skill development and physical development. Proper placements and a 10:1 player-to-coach ratio will maximize the training benefits for each girl. Equipment Players will need appropriate playing and protective gear, including a field hockey stick, shin-guards, mouth guard, and sneakers or cross trainers. (Turf shoes are optional but recommended for high school-level players.) Campers should bring a full water bottle, bag lunch, swimsuit, towel, and sunscreen. Site Skidmore Outdoor Athletic Facility (Skidmore's Sports and Recreation Center in the event of inclement weather) Staff Beth Hallenbeck has compiled an impressive 115-41 record since taking over the Skidmore field hockey program in 2001. Her record includes six NCAA tournament bids and the 2002, 2003, and 2008 Liberty League championships. Prior to Skidmore, she had 10 successful years at Rensselaer. Hallenbeck's Skidmore teams have qualified for postseason play all eight years including her 2001 NCAA semifinalist team. Camp staff will be comprised of veteran coaches and talented international and collegiate players. Cost $215 (includes practice jersey). Please note that the camp is limited to 150 participants, so register early. Players will be exposed to intense field hockey team training in a fun, friendly atmosphere. As a bonus, they will have an opportunity to meet and work with players from other teams. Registration Teams must register as a group of 10 players or more. A team representative should collect the completed registration forms and payments from her participating teammates and submit the entire package to Department of Athletics, Skidmore College - Summer Sports Program, 815 N. Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
