Why take summer classes? It's an ideal way to fulfill all college, foundation level and departmental requirements, to catch up in your progress toward your degree, and to take advantage of the small classes, intimate atmosphere and the opportunities to concentrate on just one or two courses at a time.
Accelerate! Students who take summer courses (and especially those who also enter as first year students with advanced placement credits) can often graduate in three years, and because tuition for summer courses is 1/2 that during the fall and spring semesters, they can save themselves and their families a substantial amount of money. Details may be found on the Registrar's Information on Acceleration and Application form.
What's different about summer classes? Summer Term regularly features not only courses in the full range of the Liberal and Studio Arts, but also several Special Topics courses in a variety of disciplines: these are often one-time courses taught by visiting faculty and offer not-to-be-missed opportunities for specialized study. Summer classes are generally small, informal, and intense, and so a great way to really focus and master material, ideas or skills.
And being on campus in the summer is in and of itself an experience. Click on the link to Summer @ Skidmore to find out more.
Registration for Skidmore students opens February 16 through the Skidmore Student System.
Qualified high school students and high school graduates who’ve not yet entered college can get a jump-start by enrolling in the Pre-College Program in the Liberal and Studio Arts.
Students not enrolled at Skidmore may apply to enroll in Summer Term courses via the Summer Term Application. Further details can be found on the application form.
