Meissner effect - Visit the Physics Department
Physics is the science studying the concept of matter and its motion, as well as space and time — the science that deals with concepts such as force, energy, mass, and charge. Physics is an experimental science, and it is the objective of physicists to understand how the natural world works.

Today, physics is a broad and highly developed subject. Research is often divided into four subfields: condensed matter physics; atomic, molecular, and optical physics; high-energy physics; and astronomy and astrophysics.  Skidmore College invites you to study science in a true liberal arts environment.  We are excited to offer new laboratories, a new machine shop, and research programs in experimental and theoretical physics and astronomy.  We also share dual engineering programs with Dartmouth and Clarkson.  Since 1998, Skidmore has offered merit scholarships in science and mathematics.
