Posted: 05/01/2008Skidmore's 10th annual Academic Festival took place Wednesday, April 30, throughout the campus. Sponsored by the College’s Honors Forum, the event traditionally celebrates academic achievement by students at all levels and across all disciplines.
More than 250 students—a record number—participated this year. Presentations included numerous research papers; original films; community-based research involving natural resources; art, theater, and dance performances. Some presentations focused on academic opportunities pursued abroad, and a round-table presentation was devoted to research completed by students in the Master of Arts in Liberal Studies Program.
Supportive audiences of fellow students, faculty and staff, and even members of the public greeted presenters throughout the day. Strategically placed refreshment tables helped sustain presenters and audience members from morning until early evening.
Festival organizers noted in the event’s program, “We believe that this year’s Academic Festival promotes interdisciplinary connections and truly captures the spirit of academia at Skidmore, setting a high mark for our future aspirations.”
