Winter Sports

The Skidmore College winter sports season has been filled with excitement as teams work toward the postseason. The menís ice hockey team is 10-9-1 and 6-8-1 in the ECAC East after a 2-2 tie at Salem State on Feb. 7. The skaters are tied for fifth with four games to play. The last two regular season home games are Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. versus Norwich and Feb. 14 at 4 p.m. against St. Michaelís.

The womenís basketball team is fighting for a playoff berth with an 8-13 overall record and 5-5 mark in Liberty League play. The women upset St. Lawrence on Feb. 7 to move into playoff contention. with four games to play. The final Liberty League home weekend is Feb. 20-21 with Hamilton and William Smith. The menís basketball team is 7-14 and 2-8 in conference play. The team will close out the season at home on Feb. 20-21 against Hamilton and Hobart.

The swimming and diving teams prepare for the UNYSCSA Championships as the season rolls to a finish. The women travel to Syracuse, N.Y. for the state championships on Feb. 19-21. The men will compete in states in Syracuse on Feb. 26-28.

The riding team returns from a two-month break on Feb. 22 at Cornell and then will host a show on Feb. 28. The Thoroughbreds lead the region through five events with three shows remaining.
