Skidmore spring teams moving toward the postseason

It has been another successful spring for Skidmore intercollegiate athletic teams. Several teams will be vying for league and national championships. The riding team is competing at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association National Show April 23-26 in Murfreesboro, Tenn. The golf team, ranked third nationally, will play in its 23rd straight NCAA Division III Championship Tournament, May 13-15 in Port St. Lucie, Fla.

The men's tennis team expects to receive its second straight NCAA tournament bid after winning the Liberty League championship. The women's tennis team is also looking toward the NCAA tournament after playing in the Liberty League championships April 25-26.

The 8-5 men's lacrosse team has clinched a Liberty League playoff berth and will close out the regular season at home on April 25 at 7 p.m. against Clarkson. The Liberty League tournament begins April 30 at sites to be determined.

The baseball team is 18-13 and in third place in the Liberty League with a eight games to play. The softball team is 16-9 and enjoying its first winning season since 1998.

The women's lacrosse team is 6-7 and will close out its regular- season at home April 25 at 3:30 p.m. against defending NCAA Division III champion Hamilton.

The men's and women's crews will be competing in the Liberty League championships April 25 at St. Lawrence. The team will also travel to the NY State Championships, May 2-3 in Whitney Point, N.Y.
