Winter Sports 2010

Skidmore winter teams are riding high as they head into the homestretch of winter season. Postseason action is right around the corner.

The womenís basketball team won the Liberty League regular-season title and posts a 19-3 overall and 11-1 league record with two regular-season games to play. The Thoroughbreds will host the Liberty League championship tournament Feb. 26-27. Pairings and times to be set on Feb. 21. The team is also ranked second in the NCAA Division III New York Region.

The menís basketball team is 15-8 and 8-4 in league play with two more games to play. The team is tied for first place and looking to clinch its first Liberty League playoff berth.

The hockey team also is fighting for home playoff ice with an 8-13-2 overall and 7-8-2 ECAC East record. The team is in third place in the ECAC with two games to play. The ECAC quarterfinals are set for Feb. 27.

The swimming and diving teams prepare for the UNYSCSA Championships as the season rolls to a finish. The women travel to Syracuse, N.Y. for the state championships on Feb. 18-20. The men will compete in states in Syracuse on Feb. 25-27.

The riding team returns from a two-month break on Feb. 21 at Cornell and then will host a show on Feb. 27. The Thoroughbreds lead the region through five events with three shows remaining.
