Rain threatened Saturday afternoon, but held off. High points of the weekend included Saturday's Alumni Awards Recognition Ceremony, which honored a select group of alumni from various classes for career and volunteer achievements, including service to Skidmore; and the "parade of classes" that preceded the ceremony, which took place for the first time in the Arthur Zankel Music Center.
Three members of the Class of 1940 -- on hand for their 70th reunion – received a standing ovation in the Arthur Zankel Music Center, and more than 100 members of the Class of 2005 returned for their fifth. More than 100 members of the golden anniversary Class of 1960 returned for their 50th reunion.
Other highlights of the weekend included a dinner cruise on Lake George for the Class of 1960, the annual Alumni Reunion Art Exhibition at the Frances Young Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery; the traditional array of mini-college classes taught by members of the Skidmore faculty; and tours of the Zankel Music Center.
Fireworks went off at 10 p.m. sharp on Saturday night, followed by dancing to music by Soul Session, a band featuring alumnus Garland Nelson ’96.
