Dear Classmates,
Can you believe it's already been five months since our absolutely fantastic 60th Reunion? For those of you who couldn't make it, we'll recap: thirty-six of us spent four days simply reminiscing and having fun. Along the way we listened as President Glotzbach installed us'ns (55th reunioners and above) into the Scribner Society; the next day we got to hear former president David Porter at his best at the piano, and that night we were privileged to hear Susan Kress, Vice President for Academic Affairs, who was the first recipient of the Class of 1948 Professor for Excellence in Teaching. (Since she spoke extemporaneously, and because of her many, many commitments, I told her I would excerpt her remarks made at our 55th Reunion, those which she had embellished upon last May. The excerpt is enclosed.) The next night we were privileged to hear Professor Mary Ann Foley, our second recipient of the Class' Professor for Excellence in Teaching. (Her remarks are also enclosed.) We want to add with pride that Mary Ann recently wrote Dotsie the following: "another manuscript the class supported, by helping me bring students into my lab, was accepted for publication." Do we feel smug or what?
As you read this, do you who missed this landmark Reunion see beyond our words to the camaraderie, bonding, laughing, and enjoying-it-all feeling? Though you missed this Reunion we're only four and a half years away from our 65th! Hey, that goes for you guys who were there in May. And while we're waiting, we have our new class prexy to steer us along. She's one Mary Lou May Hartmann, our own Louie. In case you'd like to write her, she lives at 2424 Countryside Drive, Colesville, MD 20905.
All the best from Crooksie and Dotsie, your erstwhile Reunion Chairs
