Class Mailings to Date

December 15, 2007
Dear Class of 1983,

It is hard to believe that 25 years ago we were beginning our Senior Year and contemplating what lay ahead after college graduation…  We were busy attending classes, planning social events, perhaps a thought or two about a potential career after college – but most of all just wondering about life after Skidmore.

As we sit here today, I’m sure many of us could never have predicted where we would be.  I find it hard to believe that 25 years has elapsed and that I am looking at colleges with my daughter - I’m sure she is experiencing many of the same feelings we were as she contemplates High School Graduation.

Life goes on at a very rapid pace – I miss my college days and the Class of ’83 – where did the time go???  Who would have ever imagined what has unfolded…?  ‘If we knew then what we know now…’

Reunion gives us all a chance to step back and relive the carefree times we experienced at Skidmore.  For me, it also affords the opportunity to reconnect with each other.

I write you today to encourage you to attend Reunion 2008.  Bill Ladd wrote to you about the many festivities planned and I know Joan Dougherty, Vinny Catalano and Ed Dietrich, will be contacting each of us to engage our support.  Our alma mater is equally as important as our children’s’ schools.  It is our connection to the past.  Skidmore really did affect all of us and who we are today – I for one am indebted and proud.

I look forward to seeing the Class of 1983 – each and every one of us.  We have a lot to catch up on!!!

What Does the Class of 1983 Reunion Planning Committee Have in Store for our 25th, May 29-June 1, 2008?  Read On!

Aloha classmates!  Can you hear the beating drums of Reunion 2008?  They will only be getting louder as our Silver Reunion grows ever closer.  And ... your Reunion Committee has been furiously planning ANOTHER Reunion that everyone will be talking about.  If the planning weekend is any indication, this is gonna be a blast!

MAY 29 -JUNE 1, 2008 are the dates you need to remember as our 25th Reunion so ... SAVE THOSE DATES.

Your Reunion Committee has SO many wonderful things planned for you that we can't keep them a secret!  Just a few of the highlights will be:

  • A Welcoming Trade Winds Cocktail Party and Buffet Dinner at the beautiful Saratoga National Golf Club's restaurant, SARGO'S.  You can "breeze” right in, grab a drink, have a bite to eat, and ease yourself into this exciting event.
  • The Tiki Gods will recreate " DOWNTOWN AT THE BIJOU " with Vinny Catalano and Steve Rosenbaum spinning your favorite disks at the Skidmore On-Campus Club, FALSTAFF’S. UPDATE ...Tom Lindsay and Jeff Ravreby's band will open the festivities.  Let the music, the lights, and the energy get you warmed up for one amazing weekend.
  • As the Saratoga sun sets … the drums begin to beat ... and the Tiki torches light up the night ... get ready for Saturday Night's Sumptuous South Seas Feast.  Amazing food, tropical drinks, and the spirit of the Class of '83 ... culminating in a Royal display of fireworks!  And that's only the beginning of another Night to Remember!

Sounds amazing doesn't it?  There are many more surprises waiting for you …

As Promised, there will be:

  • Online registration
  • Early Bird discount for registering before April 15, 2008
  • Discounted airfare
  • Discounted hotels

To commemorate this Milestone Reunion of The Most Amazing Class, we will be raising money for the Class of 1983 Scholarships.  The money raised will afford students the invaluable Skidmore education from which we all benefited.  Your classmates will be calling you over the next few months, so do what you can.  Our goal is to raise $121,983.

Donating can be painless, too!  You can:

  • Donate on the Skidmore Web site with a credit card.
  • Tell your class agent that you want to break up the donation into easily affordable payments.
  • Donate shares of stock
  • Increase your donation by taking advantage of your employer’s matching gift program.

Those are just a few ideas but the goal is still a simple one: help others afford an education of a lifetime.  On behalf of Your Class of 1983 Reunion Committee, be well and we can't wait to see you!

Aloha!

Dear Class of 1983,

It’s hard to believe, as we approach our 25th Reunion, that 29 years ago we all came together at a place called Skidmore College.  Time sure has flown by since those days when we once walked the halls, crossed the quads, made friendships we’ve treasured through the years… and even attended a class or two!

Once again we are under the leadership of Reunion Coordinator Extraordinaire, Bill Ladd, who has assembled an awesome crew of volunteers.  It promises to be an event not to be missed.  The theme for our 25th Reunion is a Hawaiian Kamanawanaleia Party.  We have planned some wonderful activities and hope you can join us May 29 – June 1, 2008.

We are publishing a Class History Book, to help you catch up with what your classmates have been up to for the past 25 years and as a resource for getting back in touch with old friends.  I’ve designed it to be fun, informative and (hopefully) easy to fill out.  I hope that everyone will fill out the questionnaire so we can have as complete a history of the Class of 1983 as possible. If you haven’t already filled out the hardcopy questionnaire you received in the mail recently, fear not!  Simply click on the Class History Questionnaire link on the right and follow the directions.

We also encourage you to include a photograph or two which would look nice in black and white on your page (please send copies or email files as we will be unable to return originals). Please email electronic photos to me at ahliss@earthlink.net.

Please send all information to me by January 15, 2008 so I can begin to compile all of the materials.  Your completed Class History will be provided to you when you arrive on campus for Reunion Weekend.

Best wishes for all the coming holidays!
