Dear  Class of 1993,

HI! Where have you been for the last 15 years?  It is unbelievable to me that we getting ready to celebrate our 15th Reunion at Skidmore College.  Time has flown by since we left Saratoga – I know everyone has been in incredibly busy with life, jobs, families, travel and adventures of all kinds.

You just received a great letter from our fantastic fundraising team of Julie Stone, Jennifer Rebeck Hiller and Spencer Goldin, announcing the reunion dates and kicking off our exciting and ambitious fundraising campaign. AND WE NEED YOU!  So please mark your calendars immediately for the weekend of May 29-June 1!

Yes, a four-day Skidmore Class of ’93 celebration weekend. And please consider making a gift to our alumni fund – whatever you can contribute will make a big difference.  We want to focus this year on increasing the percentage of participation and raise more money than we have in the past, or maybe even more than any other 15-year Reunion Class ever has, proving yet again what we already knew: our class rocks.

When I had the pleasure of plotting and planning Reunion Weekend with a great crew of classmates and Alumni Office representatives, we came up with possibly the best reunion theme EVER for our class:

WHAT HAPPENS AT SKIDMORE STAYS AT SKIDMORE!

Well before the beautiful city of Las Vegas coined this phrase for their renowned advertising campaign, the Skidmore Class of 1993 already knew this to be true - I think it’s fair to say we can all relate.  More details to come on this, but expect a full Vegas-themed weekend including fun casino games and many other surprises. Since we know how to roll the dice and celebrate as if it were our jobs, we know this will be a great theme for our big weekend.

And so much has happened at Skidmore and in Saratoga since we left. I wanted to share some of that news with you:

Skidmore is in middle of a $200 million campaign which among other great accomplishments will include the building of a new music building, double the endowment and create 100 new scholarships.

Skidmore Admissions had close to 7000 applications last year and had a record low 35% acceptance rate.

Newsweek name Skidmore one of the 25 “New Ivies”, we always knew we were Ivy League material!

The campus has the new Northwoods Village and incredible renovated dining hall.

For all you Skidmore athletes still going strong out there, the campus has three new turf fields. Perfect for all your Ultimate Frisbee needs.  Hey Skidmore tennis – ready to campaign for some new courts too?

Pope’s Pizza is now a Borders bookstore. Enough said.  (Note: Pope’s did relocate to Washington St.)

Speaking of the schedule, for those of you that can make it Thursday night, we will be meeting at The Parting Glass for dinner.  And for the rest of the crew arriving Friday we’ll plan on meeting at one of our favorite spots – the patio of Gaffney’s.  Do OV splits still exist?

We’re planning to make this site the go-to spot for news and messages and maybe even photos we can send each other to stay in touch about fun plans and ideas from now leading up to Reunion Weekend. Ben Anderson and Janis Petroski of our Skidmore Annual Fund and Alumni Affairs offices have been wonderful supporters of our class and organizers of this weekend, and I look forward to all of us working together.

Please email me at hschupf@sirisuradio.com  to say hi and tell me about all the great things you have done – and let me know any ideas or suggestions you have for the weekend!

Obviously Reunion ’08 promises to be an unforgettable weekend in our beloved Saratoga Springs. We all have so many incredible memories from our time at Skidmore, can’t wait to make new ones!

Best,

Hillary Schupf
