Dear Class of 1963,
If your life goes by as quickly as mine you may think that you received a letter from the Reunion Historian just last year. In fact, almost five years have past since our 40th and it is time to get ready for our 45th. An important part of Reunion for all of our class is the printed Class History which allows us to reconnect and catch up with each other. Writing for the history also gives us an opportunity to pause and reflect both on current and past events—and if done early enough gives us an early start on our holiday letter!
If you haven't already filled out your class history questionnaire, fear not. You can do so right now by clicking on the Class History icon on left). Simply save the word document as "yourname.doc"to your desktop, fill it out, and email as an attachment to me at aronson10@comcast.net by January 31, 2008. Please feel free to write more than one page, ignore any questions you feel are irrelevant, and include pictures. You can also email photographs as attachments to me. If that is a problem, simply snail them to me 1051 Aberdeen Court N, Mobile, AL 36609.
Remember, the Skidmore brand is “Creative Thought Matters” so yours can look and sound as unique as you are!
I volunteered to be Class Historian because I felt the need to reconnect with Skidmore after being so geographically and psychologically disconnected for forty plus years. I have been living in Mobile, Alabama for the past fifteen years and before that I lived in the wilds of Pennsylvania, otherwise known as State College, PA. I think that there was one other Skidmore Alum in State College and I’m not sure about Mobile, but my guess is that I may be the only one here. I have had a chance to visit the new campus but have never attended a Reunion. I share this with you in the hopes that those of you who have been similarly disconnected will be motivated to make this the year that you both send in your questionnaire and plan to attend the reunion this May.
I have big shoes to fill since Judy Pettingell did such an outstanding job as Class Historian, publishing our four 1963 Class Histories since our 25th. One of the early plusses of this job has been the opportunity to talk with Judy again and to remember late nights spent with her and other art majors in the studios.
All submissions must be received by January 31, 2008 so that we have time to compile and produce the Class History. If you have any questions or suggestions, please call me at (251) 344-1007 or email me at aronson10@comcast.net. I look forward to hearing from “Y’all” soon. (I still don’t eat grits, but I do say y’all.)
Warm regards,
Judy Fuller Aronson
