In 2012, the featured artists are Anna Kunz and Dan Levenson. There will be an opening reception at the culmination of each teaching artist's two week session. (For further information on Levenson, click here or here!)
Opening Reception for Anna Kunz and students: Thursday, July 19th, 4:30 - 5:30 pm.
Opening Reception for Dan Levenson and students: Wednesday, August 1st, 4:30 - 5:30 pm.

Summer 2011
Students taking Installation 101 in 2011 worked first with Elana Herzog, then with Nnenna Okore, to create two dramatic - and dramatically different - installations.
Herzog InstallationElana Herzog makes "sculptural drawings" using chenille bedspreads, old clothing, and common household materials. Her works consider, among other things, the geometry of spaces, our existence within them, and the passage of time. She is a lecturer at Yale, and is represented by LMak Projects in New York. For the Schick Art Gallery installation, she took her original inspiration from the rectilinear space of the gallery, and developed her ideas in collaboration with the students.
Nnenna Okore Installation
Nnenna Okore's starting point was material-oriented; she and students used newspapers, burlap, paint, and dye to create a striking environment within the Schick space.
Okore is a Nigerian American artist who uses discarded materials and, through labor-intensive processes, transforms them into intricate, highly textural sculpture installations. She is the Chair of the Art Department at North Park University in Chicago.
