New York Knicks return for training camp

The New York Knickerbockers return to Skidmore for the 2009 training camp from Sept. 29 to Oct. 3.  This is the second year the Knicks have trained at Skidmore.

The team will hold two practices each day at the Sports and Recreation Center main gym. The practices will be closed to the public.

As part of this year's camp, the Knicks will provide an opportunity for children of Skidmore employees to watch the team practice, followed by a question and answer period.  Thoroughbred athletes and coaches will then conduct a basketball clinic.  The clinic was filled within an hour of its announcement to the Skidmore community.

"We are excited about partnering with the NY Knicks to provide this tremendous opportunity to the children of our community," said Skidmore athletics director Gail Cummings-Danson.  "It will be a fun evening."

Second-year coach Mike D'Antoni's team will conclude the camp by playing the New Jersey Nets at the Times Union Center in Albany at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4. The team opens its 64th National Basketball Association season Oct. 28 at Miami.
