Crystal Dea Moore

Crystal Dea Moore, M.A., MSW, Ph.D.

Crystal is Assistant Professor and Program Director of Skidmore's Social Work Program. She received her M.A. in Behavioral Science from California State University, Bakersfield and subsequently returned to graduate school where she received her MSW and Ph.D. in Social Welfare from the University at Albany, State University of New York. Crystal's clinical experience includes working with older adults with chronic mental illness and veterans with life-limiting illness. In 2006, Crystal was selected as a Hartford Faculty Scholar and is conducting research on the impact of family functioning and patient and caregiver health care communiation on health care cost and utilization among a sample of older veterans with congestive heart failure. Her publications include research on surrogate decision-making and end-of-life care, ethical issues faced by social workers in end-of-life care settings, and communication issues in end-of-life and palliative care. Crystal has been at Skidmore full-time since September 2002.
