Community Service Program

A variety of positions are available at local approved non-profit agencies. Community Service work-study works with such agencies as Saratoga Mentoring, Saratoga Economic Opportunity Council, and the Saratoga Children's Museum. A complete list can be found on the Off-Campus Employment Opportunity web page. The Community Service work-study program provides students with off-campus employment opportunities which will help the students develop career related skills.

Eligibility for the Program
Only students with federal work-study are eligible to participate in this program. Please contact the Student Employment Coordinator if you are not sure you receive federal work-study.

Getting Paid
A Work Agreement needs to be completed (along with other required employment paperwork) before a student can begin working with an agency. A student's earnings are covered 100% by our federal funding, and therefore is cost-free to the local agencies.

Students are required to submit hours through the Student Auto-Time system along with submitting a paper timesheet to the the Office of Student Aid and Family Finance. Additional paper timesheets can be picked up from the office or downloaded and printed. A paper timesheet is required for each pay period.

Your Responsibilities
While working out in the community you are a representative of Skidmore College. The agency is counting on you, you are serving the Saratoga Springs community and your work is important. You must be willing to commit yourself to this worthwhile program. Treat your work as seriously as you would your academic work. You will be gaining valuable experience and skills while performing a service to the community.

Please contact the Student Employment Coordinator if you are interested in employment within the Community Service program.
