April 13 - 19, 2008
Skidmore College employs almost 1,300 students annually. Student employment offers students career-enhancing opportunities, the ability to develop skills relevant in any career, and better preparation for the job market upon graduation.
Each year the National Student Employment Association declares the second full week in April “National Student Employment Week”. It is appropriate to set aside a special week to draw the awareness of others, both on campus and off, to the contributions student workers make in the multitude of roles they fill. By celebrating this week, it serves as an opportunity for supervisors to express appreciation to their student employees who help keep Skidmore College running!
Department supervisors can recognize their outstanding student employees by submitting a Student Employee of the Year nomination form. Nomination forms are generally distributed to departments in December. Student nominees are nominated based on their reliability, quality of work, initiative, professionalism, and uniqueness of contribution. Departmental employers are invited with their student nominees to attend the Awards Reception held during Student Employment Appreciation Week.
