Campus Groups and Resources

Campus Environmental Committee: "The Campus Environment Committee is a group of faculty, students, and staff who help monitor and guide Skidmore's environmental policies and activities."

Environmental Action Club: The Environmental Action Club is a student-run organization that serves "to educate the Skidmore community with informative newspaper articles, speakers, and other programming focusing on issues both global and local in scope. In addition, the club will promote beneficial change on the Skidmore campus with regard to issues such as recycling, efficient energy use, pesticide use, styrofoam and plastics use, and any other pertinent concern or risk."

Environmental Studies Program: "Students and faculty in the ES program investigate the interrelationships among cultural traditions, social change and institutions, and the physical and biological environment in which we live. Because of their increasing complexity, emerging environmental issues require knowledge, methods, and responses that flow from many disciplines. Hence, the program depends heavily on an appropriately balanced understanding of many perspectives drawn from the natural and social sciences, humanities, arts, and pre-professional programs."

North Woods: Skidmore College owns a unique and valuable resource in its North Woods, a regional treasure of flora and fauna in an interesting complex of ecosystems. The area is a key academic resource for the natural sciences and other fields of study; it offers convenient and diverse outlets for cocurricular and recreational activities.
