Penfield Hall Eco-Rep: Rebecca Kolins

RebeccaBecca Kolins is a sophomore majoring/minoring in Environmental Studies, Women’s Studies, and Sociology.  She spent this past summer working in an orphanage in Kenya, which she thought was beyond amazing, and then hitting up awesome environmental conferences.  If she had to pick her animal identity it would be a monkey, she thinks. The resemblance is uncanny, no?  After seeing how beautiful nature truly is, especially in different parts of the world, Becca realized even more how wonderful the environment is and how important it is to protect it.  As an Eco-Rep, she’s hoping to help spread environmental awareness and help each person with self-sustainability.

Kimball Hall Eco-Rep: Benjamin Harwick

BenBen is a sophomore prospective Environmental Studies/Management and Business double major originally from Hanover, New Hampshire.  He enjoys playing sports such as soccer or basketball, and hiking around the Hanover area.  Ben also enjoys cheering on the Thoroughbreds in all athletic competitions and is an admissions tour guide. He is very proud of Skidmore’s use of sustainable energy especially the geothermal heating and cooling of the Murray-Aikins Dining Hall, the new Arthur Zankel Music Center, and the Northwoods Village Apartments. Most of all he is excited to get started as an Eco-Rep!

Wiecking Hall Eco-Rep: Alexander Brehm

AlexAlex Brehm is a sophomore Economics major.  He was born in Binghamton, NY, and later moved to Potsdam, NY.  Once there, he became interested in kayaking, biking, and rock climbing.  At Skidmore, he rows on the crew team, reads voraciously, and volunteers some of his time at Wilton EMS.  He also  attended Powershift 2009, an environmental rally at Washington DC.   This past summer, Alex researched cumulative voting and shareholder rights in companies with Skidmore's business department.  He believes environmental conservation is an absolute necessity, considering the limited resources available to people today

Wilmarth Hall Eco-Rep: Jackie Slocombe

JackieJackie Slocombe is a sophomore from Amherst, Massachusetts.   Although undecided on her major, she knows she wants to do something involving sustainability.   Aside from playing on the Skidmore field hockey team, Jackie thoroughly enjoys hiking, playing games of any kind, photography, and, of course, spending time in the dining hall--her favorite place on campus.  This past year she worked on a campaign called “Cool Cities,” with fellow Skidmore students to promote sustainability and environmental legislation in the city of Saratoga Springs.  She can’t wait for her hall to win Skidmore Unplugged!
