Judy Roberts Kunisch
Judy Roberts Kunisch, an executive with extensive experience in designing business solutions for health care providers and insurers, graduated from Skidmore College as a nursing major in 1969 and earned an M.B.A. from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's Hartford Graduate Center.
Kunisch spent much of her career building and implementing innovative business models designed to improve the quality of health care and to control medical costs. Along the way, she launched a disease state management program for high-risk pregnant women and opened and operated a regional managed-care company.
Among her executive positions, Kunisch served as a vice president for medical support and strategy at The Hartford Financial Services, Inc.; as executive network director at VNA Managed Care; and as managing director with Hartford Action Plan on Infant Health. She is a former policy advisor to the Donaghue Medical Research Foundation.
Kunisch teaches leadership at Yale School of Nursing and is interim director of the Nursing Management, Policy, and Leadership specialty program. She is the author of numerous articles and recipient of The Hartford Claim Award of Excellence; the Robert U. Massey, MD, Award for Distinguished Service; and a T. Stewart Hamilton Fellowship for Health Care Management.
Kunisch has served on Skidmore's Alumni Association Board since 2005. She was named president of the Alumni Association in 2008 and also serves as a trustee of the College. Her son, Hans, graduated in 2001. Suzanne Roberts McCarty and Mary Roberts Adams, her sisters, are Skidmore alumnae.
